JEFMA2050 Carbon Neutral Action
Towards the reality of
CO2 separation, capture, and utilization
In our country, currently, all stakeholders are required to take initiatives toward achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, and the development of new technologies and their social implementation are important factors in this effort. Therefore, in the medium- to long-term scenarios (*1) and the Green Growth Strategy (*2), a roadmap for technological development and social implementation aimed at carbon neutrality in the waste and resource recycling sector is presented. Based on these roadmaps, members of the Japan Environmental Sanitation Facilities Industry Association will not only further advance existing energy recovery technologies but also promote technological innovation through related biological and thermal treatment technologies toward the realization of CCU (CO2 capture, utilization, and storage). This site introduces the latest status of these initiatives.
- (*1) Medium- to long-term scenario (draft) toward net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 in the field of waste and resource circulation (August 2022, Ministry of the Environment)
- (*2) Green Growth Strategy for Carbon Neutrality in 2050 (June 2021, Cabinet Secretariat, etc.)
